About Tahquamenon Falls

Tahquamenon Falls is separated into two main areas. The Upper Falls and the Lower Falls. The Upper Falls includes a massive waterfall with nearly a 50 ft. drop and is longer than 200 ft. in width. The eye-catching waterfall dumps a maximum of 50,000 gallons of water per second. As you continue down stream of the Tahquamenon River you will find yourself at the Lower Falls. The Lower Falls is perceived as the more relaxed and less dramatic side of the Tahquamenon River. Here you will find the Tahquamenon Falls Country Store with it’s Grab-n-Go food, rental kayaks and merchandise to take a piece of the Lower Falls home.

There is a lot to look forward to as you come to Tahquamenon Falls. The Nature of Tahquamenon Falls State Park is remarkable. Occasionally you will see Moose feeding in the damp parts of the park along M-123. Other common wildlife seen includes black bear, beaver, fox, porcupines, deer, coyotes and otter. Along with the wildlife, you will notice the amount of birds in park.
